On the afternoon of Jan 14, James Zhao, Li Nan and Mao Yagang from Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), NZ, paid a visit to our University. Zhou Yong, the Prof and president of School of International Education, Yun Deyu the Vice-President and Prof and Li Huaqiang of Program Cooperation Teaching Office attended the discussion.
First of all, Mr. Zhou welcomed the SIT delegation, and he made a brief introduction to the development history, school-running characteristics and international cooperation and exchanges of Xinxiang University. James Zhao introduced in detail the majors, courses, teachers, and international cooperative school running in the SIT. The SIT is a state-run higher education institution that has experienced many years in New Zealand. Currently SIT has 13,000 students. (Including part-time students), most are local students. Its main campus is located in Invercargill in the South Island, with 5 branch campuses in GORE and Queenstown. Through the talks, the two sides believe that there is a very high integrating degree of majors between the two universities, which opens up a broad space for future cooperation in school running. Finally, the two sides reached a preliminary intention to further cooperate in running schools in IT, hotel tourism management, accounting and so on.
James Zhao's visit this time will help our university learn from the advanced teaching and management experience in the SIT, further strengthen the cooperative school running and academic exchanges between the two universities, and promote our university’s transformation to an applied technology university.
