On December 9th, International Education Cooperation Seminar between Sino-US Universities was held in Shanghai. Zhou Yong, dean of School of International Education and Yun Deyu, vice-dean, were invited to attend the meeting. Liu Baoli, former director of International Division of Ministry of Education was present and made a congratulation speech at the meeting. Cultural and Education Section of U.S. Embassy, 6 U.S universities, and a couple of domestic universities attended this seminar.
During the meeting, Sino-US universities carried out group round-table exchange and one-to-one discussion. In a friendly atmosphere, they introduced respectively their specialty characteristics, their requirements, cooperative patterns and their internationalization experiences. Zhou Yong, dean of School of International Education and Yun Deyu, vice-dean talked respectively with the representatives from University of St. Francis,Clark University, Mary University,Holy Family University, Dominican University and Wisconsin Lutheran university. The talk covered students cultivation, teachers training, joint scientific research and cooperative education programs. The discussion achieved an effective result and reached a preliminary cooperation intention with Clark University.
Founded in 1887, Clark University, founded in 1887, is a small-scale noble university, which advocates small-sized class teaching with merely 25 students. Their specialties are as follows: finance and economics, law, textiles & apparel, engineering technology, management, environment, architecture, education, science, tourism, agriculture forestry, humanity and art, social science, biology, physical education, journalism and communication, information science, medical science, linguistics, natural science and so on. Psychology and geography are two nationally known disciplines, and “Heinz Werner Institute”counts as one of the best in U.S.; doctor’s degree of geography is the number one in American universities. History and science are also comparatively good discipline. Clark University enjoys a long history and has a lot of famous alumni, including renowned scientist Adelbert Ames, psychologist E. Franklin Frazier, and Xu Zhimo, a famous modern poet and essayist.
