A Talk on Studying in SEGI University, Malaysia, Was Given in Our University
On May 10th, 2016, Zhang Qidong, regional Director of SEGI University in China, was invited to give a lecture on “New Path to Further Study” in Building 14, Room 520.
First, Zhang Qidong introduced the location, history and advantage of SEGI University. SEGI is short for Sysmatic Education Group International. SEGI was founded in 1977, the first college of which is situated in Kuala Lumpur, offering professional qualification. Certificates issued by SEGI are attested by Chinese Service Center For Scholarly Exchange and Chinese Ministry of Education. 2003 Kuala Lumpur campus and 2010 KD campus are recommended by Ministry of Education as foreign universities for Chinese students studying abroad.
Then, Zhang Qidong introduced upgrade from junior college students to university students and studying for master degree programs of SEGI: 1. Short duration: SEGI adopts credits transferred from different campuses to shorten the study time. 2. High admittance rate: the assessment will involve students’ class performance, homework and examinations. 3. Low entrance requirement: SEGI demands ILTS 5.5 or other English proficiency level. 4. Minimum cost: college to undergraduate needs 20-30 thousand RMB/year, and the total tuition of postgraduate needs 50-80 thousand RMB, which is affordable to wage-earning class.
Through this lecture, students got well-informed with studying abroad, work and entrepreneurship pursuit under international background. This lecture sets up a platform for studying and working abroad, with fruitful results. Students from Business School, School of Management, School of Foreign Languages, School of Computer and Information Engineering and School of International Education and Exchange attended the lecture.
