Warm March, Love Fills the Sunset Years——To promote the volunteer spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress" and inherit the traditional Chinese virtue of respecting the elderly, on the occasion of the 62nd "Lei Feng Memorial Day" and the 26th "China Youth Volunteer Service Day," the volunteer team from the School of International Education visited Huanghunxiao Nursing Home on March 3 to carry out the "Warm March, Love Fills the Sunset Years" themed volunteer service activity. They brought care and warmth to the elderly through practical actions.
Companionship and Heartfelt Conversations
Volunteers divided into groups to chat with the elderly, listening to their stories and understanding their needs. The seniors enthusiastically shared their life experiences, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
Cultural Performances and Joyful Interactions
The volunteers prepared song, dance, and instrumental performances, delivering a wonderful cultural show for the elderly. The seniors watched with great interest, their faces glowing with happiness.
Cleaning and Thoughtful Services
Volunteers actively helped the elderly tidy their rooms, clean the environment, and wipe furniture and windows, creating a neater and more comfortable living space for them.
This activity not only allowed the elderly in the nursing home to feel the care and warmth of society but also deepened the volunteers' understanding of the significance of "respecting the elderly as we respect our own." The volunteers expressed their commitment to continue practicing the spirit of Lei Feng through actions, caring for the elderly, serving society, and passing on love and warmth.
Respecting and caring for the elderly is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. It is everyone's responsibility to care for the elderly. Let us start with small acts around us, embody the spirit of Lei Feng through practical actions, and contribute youthful energy to building a harmonious society!
It is reported that Huanghunxiao Nursing Home in Wangcun Town, Muye District, serves as a LeiFeng volunteer service education and practice base for the School of International Education at Xinxiang University. Since April 2021, the volunteer team has collaborated with the nursing home, conducting a total of 25 volunteer service activities with 189 participants to date.
