To further enhance the fire safety awareness of faculty and students, improve their ability to respond to emergencies, evacuate, and perform self-rescue and mutual aid, and to strengthen their capacity to handle sudden fire incidents, the School of International Education held a fire safety training session and practical drill on the morning of June 6 in rooms A04-104 and A04-106. The training and drill were guided by Zhang Chuan, an instructor from the Henan Provincial Fire Protection Association, and were attended by all faculty members and students of the School.
Instructor Zhang used recent typical fire cases, supported by data, images, and videos, to analyze the causes of various fires, summarize preventive measures, and explain escape techniques. He also provided detailed instructions on the proper use of different types of fire extinguishing equipment and protective gear.
Following the lecture, the training moved to the practical drill phase. All participating students proceeded to Boya Square for hands-on fire extinguisher practice. Instructor Zhang Chuan demonstrated the standard operating procedure for dry powder fire extinguishers: "lift, pull, aim, and squeeze." He explained response strategies for different types of fires. Under professional guidance, students took turns practicing the operation. From initial hesitation to proficient and standardized handling, they effectively mastered the skills for tackling incipient fires, achieving a deep integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application.
This fire safety training and drill further strengthened the fire safety awareness of all faculty and students at the School of International Education, enhanced their ability to evacuate in an orderly and efficient manner and respond to early-stage fires, and provided strong support for the continued construction of a safe campus.
