To further assist students in clarifying their directions for postgraduate studies, seizing employment opportunities, addressing their confusions during exam preparation and job hunting, and establishing clear development goals, the School of International Education successfully held a sharing session on postgraduate entrance examination and employment experiences on the afternoon of May 12 in Classroom A11-120. Attendees included Du Chuan, Deputy Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering; Liu Yana, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education; Dr. Liu Bing, faculty member of the School of Mechanical Engineering; representatives of successful postgraduate admittees and employed graduates from the Class of 2026; and all students of the Class of 2023 majoring in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation (Sino-foreign Cooperative Education). The event was hosted by Chen Bo, Deputy Secretary of the School’s Youth League Committee.

At the beginning of the event, Du Chuan, based on the current landscape of postgraduate exams and the job market, combined with years of experience in education management, provided an in-depth analysis of exam preparation strategies and career direction choices. He also offered advice on career planning and professional development positioning. Du encouraged students to plan ahead, stay grounded, balance study and practice, identify their own development paths, and face the dual choices of postgraduate exams and employment with a positive and composed mindset. His remarks helped clarify ideas and point the way forward for the students.

Dr. Liu Bing shared insights from his academic research and teaching experience, covering professional studies, enhancement of research capabilities, and skills for postgraduate re-examination. Addressing students’concerns such as difficult review points, re-examination preparation, and resume polishing, Dr. Liu answered each question meticulously, using detailed examples and practical methods to help students master efficient learning and job-seeking techniques. He encouraged everyone to solidify their professional foundation, improve core competitiveness, and steadily advance on their journey toward their dreams.

During the experience-sharing segment, outstanding postgraduate admittees Yang Zhaoyang and Zhu Ying shared their preparation journeys, including study insights, time management, mental adjustment methods, and pitfalls to avoid. From considerations in choosing schools and majors, to review techniques for common and specialized courses, to self-regulation under pressure, the senior students generously imparted their hands-on experience and encouraged their juniors with personal stories, giving the audience a more intuitive and comprehensive understanding of postgraduate exam preparation and a wealth of practical know-how.

Following that, representatives of outstanding employed graduates—Lin Xiang, Yang Shuaiyong, and Ma Yingbo from Datang Group, JD.com, and Bank of China Henan Branch respectively—took the stage to share job-seeking tips from different industries. Focusing on key aspects such as job channel selection, resume writing and refinement, interview process handling, workplace adaptation, and career choice, they shared their experiences and lessons learned, explained how to accurately match positions and improve job application success rates, and advised students to define their career orientation, prepare application materials early, and bravely seize employment opportunities. Their sharing aimed to help students with job-seeking intentions avoid detours and start their careers more efficiently.

At the conclusion of the event, Liu Yana delivered a closing speech. She affirmed the success of the sharing session and expressed gratitude to all the teachers and outstanding graduates for their wonderful presentations. She encouraged all students to fully absorb the wisdom and experience shared, formulate scientific and reasonable development plans based on their own realities, strengthen their ideals and convictions, bravely overcome difficulties, maintain a striving attitude, and persist with full effort on their paths toward postgraduate studies or employment. She also encouraged students to be bold in trying, break through limits, continuously improve themselves, move toward a bright future with solid capabilities, run hard on the track of youth, and write their own remarkable chapters.

Liu Yana pointed out that postgraduate studies and employment are important decisions on students’life paths. She hoped that students would take this sharing session as an opportunity to carefully digest the experiences shared, clarify their development goals based on their own circumstances, and make long-term plans. She urged students to set lofty ideals, maintain a diligent and reflective attitude, continuously improve their professional abilities and overall competence, strive bravely on the road to pursuing their dreams without fearing difficulties, and at the same time learn to seize opportunities, face challenges in postgraduate exams and job hunting with a positive and full-spirited attitude, stay grounded and steady, and strive to become young students with ideals, abilities, and a sense of responsibility.

The successful holding of this sharing session on postgraduate entrance examination and employment not only provided students with a quality platform for learning, exchange, and experience sharing, but also alleviated their anxiety regarding exams and job hunting, effectively enhancing their confidence in preparation and job-seeking. In the future, the School of International Education will continue to organize various academic and career guidance activities to help students clarify their directions, advance steadily, ride the waves, and return with a bountiful harvest on their dream-chasing journey.
