From December 11th to 13th, the national finals of the 5th Sino-Russian Cooperation in Running Schools Russian Speech Contest, themed "The Heart of Humanities, Harnessing the Wings of Technology: Chinese and Russian Youth Painting a New Era Together," concluded successfully in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. The two students selected by our college, with their solid command of the Russian language and outstanding speech performances, both won third prizes in the Lower Grade Category, achieving the best historical result for our college in this competition and earning honor for our university.
The contest was organized by the Sino-Russian Cooperation in Running Schools Alliance and hosted by the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University College at Guangdong Ocean University. It was an integral part of the Sino-Russian Cooperation in Running Schools Development Seminar and the 6th Meeting of the Sino-Russian Cooperation in Running Schools Alliance. The event aimed to promote Russian language teaching collaboration and cultural exchange among alliance member universities, stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning Russian, and establish a high-level platform for interaction between teachers and students from Sino-Russian cooperative educational institutions. A total of 93 outstanding students from 25 such institutions across China competed, showcasing the language proficiency and cross-cultural communication skills of young students in the context of Sino-Russian educational cooperation in the new era.
In preparation for the competition, the college attached great importance and made meticulous arrangements, forming a guidance team comprising the dean, vice dean, teaching secretary, and tutors. This team provided comprehensive and detailed coaching for the participating students. Covering multiple dimensions from deepening the speech theme and ensuring grammatical accuracy in Russian to standardizing pronunciation and intonation, as well as the visual presentation of PowerPoint slides and natural, appropriate stage presence and expression, the team conducted numerous specialized training sessions and mock drills. This helped the students continuously refine their speeches and enhance their overall performance capabilities, laying a solid foundation for their success.
During the contest, our participants closely followed the theme "The Heart of Humanities, Harnessing the Wings of Technology: Chinese and Russian Youth Painting a New Era Together." They deeply integrated their own learning experiences and life insights, using fluent and idiomatic Russian to vividly recount stories of traditional Chinese culture. They meticulously interpreted the unique charm and profound heritage of Chinese culture, sincerely expressing their reverence and love for Chinese civilization, as well as their hopeful expectations for Chinese and Russian youth jointly painting a new era. The contestants' confident and composed stage presence, coupled with their expressive and compelling delivery, won high praise from the judges and audience on-site, fully demonstrating the positive spirit and international literacy of our college's students.
This award represents another breakthrough for our college following the third prize in the Lower Grade Category achieved in the 2024 edition of this contest. It not only highlights the solid strength and remarkable effectiveness of our college's Russian language teaching but also reflects the fruitful outcomes of the university's "cultural education" approach. As an important vehicle for China-Belaruscooperative education, the International Education College consistently focuses on cultivating international inter-disciplinary talents proficient in "Russian + Major." It actively integrates high-quality educational resources from China, Belarus, and Russia, innovates talent cultivation models, and strives to build a "Language + Major" teaching and interaction platform.
In the future, the college will take this competition achievement as an opportunity to continuously strengthen the reform and practice of Russian language teaching. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "promoting learning, teaching, and practice through competitions," the college aims to consistently improve the quality of cultivating internationalized professional talents. Simultaneously, the college will further expand the depth and breadth of educational and cultural exchanges among ChinaandBelarus. This will inject new momentum into promoting the high-quality, connotative, and sustainable development of the university's China-Belaruscooperative education initiatives and build a broader platform for exchange and cooperation among the youth of the three countries.
