In this golden autumn season with cool breezes and fragrant osmanthus, the International Education College welcomed a group of new students filled with aspirations and dreams. To help freshmen better understand their majors, plan their academic journey, and adapt to university life, the college held a professional orientation for the 2024 cohort of the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation (Cooperative Program) on September 13 in Classroom A01-119. Attendees included Vice Dean Liu Yana of the International Education College, Xiao Miaoxin (Director of the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation Teaching and Research Office at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering), Zhao Guomei (Teaching and Research Secretary of the International Education College), Teacher Tang Lin, 2024 cohort counselor Fu Li, and all 2024 freshmen. The event was hosted by Vice Dean Liu Yana.

Vice Dean Liu delivered a welcome speech, expressing her warm wishes and expectations for the new students. She encouraged them to study diligently, strive for excellence, embrace practical experiences, and contribute to the college’s future development.

Xiao Miaoxin provided a comprehensive overview of the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation program, covering its history, educational objectives, knowledge framework, career prospects, and employment opportunities. He elaborated on the curriculum structure, experimental requirements, industry environment, and job market trends, helping students clarify their academic goals, strengthen their confidence, and grasp effective learning methods. Xiao emphasized the importance of integrating theory with practice and encouraged students to actively participate in research projects, academic competitions, and social practices to enhance their comprehensive skills and innovative capabilities.

During the interactive session, Zhao Guomei and Tang Lin addressed students’ concerns about academic matters, such as the teaching model for foreign core courses, the significance of learning Russian, and the necessity of thorough preparation and revision before and after classes.
The successful execution of this orientation provided 2024 students in the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation (Cooperative Program) with a deeper understanding of their major’s prospects and foundational knowledge. It helped freshmen establish their goals and laid a solid foundation for their future studies and campus life. The college looks forward to witnessing these students immerse themselves in their disciplines, pursue excellence with perseverance, and write brilliant chapters of youth and wisdom on their new journey!
