Our College Successfully Hosts a Series of Events to Promote Traditional Chinese Culture

Event 1: "Ink and Books, Inheriting Classics" Calligraphy Competition

Recently, the "Ink and Books, Inheriting Classics" on-site calligraphy competition, jointly organized by the International Education College and the Xinxiang University Calligraphy Association, concluded successfully. Over 100 students participated, with winners including 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 4 third prizes, and 5 honorable mentions.

The competition not only allowed students to experience the charm and joy of calligraphy but also deepened their understanding of the profound heritage of Chinese traditional culture. Calligraphy, as a symbol of national culture, carries traditional values and the spirit of the nation. Moving forward, the International Education College will continue to host such events to encourage broader student participation and jointly advance the development and inheritance of China’s outstanding traditional culture.

Event 2: "Fragrant Books, Celebrating Classics" Reading Month Activity

Amid blooming flowers and a growing love for literature, in alignment with Xinxiang University’s "Realistic and Innovative Campus" academic atmosphere construction plan for the 2024 spring semester, the International Education College organized a captivating book-sharing event on April 9 in Classroom A04-106 for the 2022 cohort. The event aimed to ignite students’reading enthusiasm through interactive exchanges and provide a platform for them to showcase their reading achievements, gaining inspiration from diverse perspectives and experiences.

Li Zhe: The World of Plants and Humans

Chai Xinyuan: The Art of War (by Sun Tzu)

Students explored themes of ordinary greatness, historical struggles, familial bonds, economic complexities, cultural beauty, and strategic wisdom, reflecting on life’s nuances and philosophical insights.

Highlights from Class 2 (2022 Mechanical Design and Automation, Cooperative Program):

The class collectively chose To Live by Yu Hua for their discussion. Li Jiaxin prepared a presentation, while Xin Shuanghuai led the session with thought-provoking questions on life’s meaning, mortality, and family relationships. The discussion highlighted the novel’s emotional depth and its power to evoke introspection and empathy.

This event was not merely an intellectual exercise but an emotional exchange. Students enhanced their knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills while fostering teamwork. The college demonstrated its commitment to holistic student development and emphasized the importance of reading as a lifelong tool for growth.

The International Education College will continue organizing such activities to encourage reading, reflection, and sharing, laying a solid foundation for students’academic and personal futures.

Event 3: Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration–"Full Moon, Shared Hearts"

The International Education College recently hosted its 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in Classroom A04-106. The college distributed special mooncakes and calligraphy artworks featuring Xinxiang University’s cultural elements. Faculty and students gathered to enjoy festive activities, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.

Lantern-Making Workshop:

A highlight was the lantern-making zone, where students crafted unique lanterns using folding, cutting, and pasting techniques. Many expressed that the activity reconnected them with traditional culture and evoked childhood memories of the festival.

Sending Blessings:

To help students afar conveylonging andblessingsto families, the college prepared customized Mid-Autumn postcards blending festival motifs with campus scenery. Students wrote heartfelt messages to loved ones, bridging distances through words.

From tasting festive delicacies to hands-on crafts and heartfelt messages, the celebration strengthened bonds among participants and brought the warmth of tradition to campus life.
