To gain a deeper understanding of the teaching operations and ensure the quality of courses delivered by foreign faculty, the International Education College established a mid-term teaching inspection working group. The group, led by Dean Li Juan and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Liu Ya’na, conducted classroom inspections from November 4 to 12, 2024, focusing on foreign faculty teaching in the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation program and the Biotechnology program under the Sino-foreign cooperative education initiatives.
The inspection emphasized the classroom teaching quality of foreign faculty responsible for core courses in the aforementioned programs. Overall, the teaching performance was commendable: classrooms exhibited a lively atmosphere with dynamic teacher-student interactions. Foreign faculty demonstrated confidence and clarity in instruction, effectively integrating real-world examples to simplify complex concepts. Chinese co-teachers actively supported the sessions, providing timely assistance and addressing student inquiries.
Following classroom observations, Dean Li and Vice Dean Liu communicated feedback to the foreign faculty regarding identified areas for improvement. The foreign faculty expressed willingness to refine their teaching methods as needed. Additionally, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on lesson preparation, classroom management, student engagement, curriculum development, and extracurricular activities.
The college places high priority on the educational quality of Sino-foreign cooperative programs. Moving forward, it will continue to enhance mutual learning between Chinese and foreign faculty through measures such as collective classroom observations and cross-cultural teaching seminars. These efforts aim to align educational philosophies and methodologies, jointly elevate teaching standards, and foster high-quality, sustainable development of the cooperative programs.
