To further standardize the management of foreign teachers and improve the quality of international talent cultivation, the International Education College organized a special inspection team from March 18 to 21 to comprehensively evaluate the teaching performance of four Belarusian foreign instructors in the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation program this semester. The inspection covered foreign-taught courses such as Material Mechanics and Electrical Engineering Technology, aiming to enhance teaching effectiveness through a combined approach of "observing, evaluating, interviewing, and promoting."
1. Adhering to "Diverse Observations + Targeted Feedback" to Ensure Teaching Quality
The inspection team, composed of Dean Li Juan, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Liu Ya’na, and academic secretaries, conducted random classroom observations, student-teacher discussions, and lesson plan reviews. They focused on evaluating teaching attitudes, curriculum design, classroom interaction, and cross-cultural teaching capabilities. Foreign teachers demonstrated strong professionalism, with innovative methods like open discussions and case simulations effectively boosting student engagement. Natalia Vladimirovna Pochalova, the foreign instructor for Material Mechanics, received high praise from Chinese colleagues and students for her well-designed course materials.
2. Improving Student Satisfaction: Unique Classrooms Earn Praise
Foreign-taught classes achieved a 98% attendance rate, with 92% of students commending the instructors’ ability to "stimulate learning interest" and 89% acknowledging that "course content aligns with international advancements." For issues such as insufficient localization of certain courses and gaps between theory and practice, the inspection team held one-on-one dialogues with foreign teachers, offering tailored suggestions on curriculum adjustments and teaching method optimization. These efforts aim to balance international perspectives with local educational needs, ensuring courses are both globally oriented and grounded in Chinese contexts to enhance classroom effectiveness.
3. Establishing Long-Term Management Mechanisms to Deepen International Teaching Reform
Dean Li Juan emphasized that foreign teachers are vital to the international faculty team. The college will refine its full-cycle management system of "recruitment—training—evaluation—incentives," regularly organize Sino-foreign teaching seminars, implement closed-loop student feedback mechanisms, and launch an "Outstanding Foreign Teacher Demonstration Course" award. Moving forward, the college plans to introduce more high-quality educational resources to support the development of globally competitive, innovative courses.
This special teaching inspection is a significant initiative by the International Education College to advance educational innovation. It highlights the college’s commitment to scientific and standardized management of foreign faculty while laying a solid foundation for integrating Chinese and international teaching philosophies and cultivating globally competitive innovative talents.
